Do You Need to Polish Before Ceramic Coating?
In most cases, some level of machine polishing is worthwhile before applying a ceramic coating. A coating is designed to remain on the paintwork for an extended period, so applying it over swirl marks, light scratches or a dull finish means those imperfections remain underneath. Proper preparation gives the coating a cleaner surface to bond to and ensures the paint looks its best before it is protected.
The Level of Polishing Depends on the Paint
Not every vehicle needs a full paint correction before being coated. Paintwork that is already in good condition may only require an enhancement polish to improve gloss and deal with lighter imperfections. Cars with heavier swirling, scratches or other visible defects may benefit from more extensive correction. The appropriate approach depends on the starting condition of the vehicle rather than automatically carrying out the same process on every car.
How Vos Detailing Approaches Ceramic Coating
At Vos Detailing, ceramic coating is added to a suitable detailing package rather than treated as a standalone application. This means the vehicle can be properly cleaned, prepared and polished before the coating is applied. Once the preparation is complete, you can choose the coating option that suits your requirements, including our longer-term 4-year ceramic coating, which can be added to an appropriate detailing package.
Pricing
Here are the services we provide. Prices listed are for small/medium vehicles where large and XL vehicles or above incur a small further charge to cover labour and product expenses.
Additional charges will also be quoted upon inspection for excess pet hair, staining, or anything that may require specialised targeted treatment or result in additional labour.

Yes. Vos Detailing offers mobile valeting and detailing. Confirm the address, parking/access and any practical requirements when arranging the booking.

No. Valeting is primarily cleaning and maintaining the car. Detailing covers more involved work such as decontamination, machine polishing, paint correction and ceramic coating, aswell as cleaning and/or restoring parts of the vehicle a valet simply would not touch.

It depends on the package, vehicle size and condition. A maintenance valet is quicker than a deep interior and exterior reset; the expected times are detailed on the detailing services price list above, and will be confirmed when booking.
